Our life is built of our experiences, perceptions and reactions. Whenever possible, we want to be anchored in kindness. It’s not always possible, and sometimes we may slip, but we can always find a way to return.

Sharing is caring.

Our work should uplevel both ourselves individually, as a studio, and our clients. By sharing details about how we made new tools, achieved incredible metrics, or our most valuable resources, we can help uplevel everyone we work with.

What makes Bend unique is our approach and that je ne sais quoi.

There’s a way.

We may not have the answer right away, but we will spend time trying to figure it out. If it’s outside of our current expertise, we are honest about this - to our clients, and to ourselves. If it’s within our realm, we find a way, or we outline a path to get there.

Close the toilet seat.

When it’s time to close up a task, a project, a conversion, make sure you leave it ready for the next person. You never know who is going to come in and what they might need, but take your best approach to create an experience that provides clarity, understanding and comfort (e.g. be kind).

Life is where you are.

Life is incredibly busy. We are remote by default and recognize that both our team members and our client stakeholders have lives outside of our interactions. We work hard to keep this in perspective.

Consult call

This is the getting-to-know-each-other moment.

During a 30-minute call, we chat about what you might be looking for and how Bend may be able to help. This is our chance to get a feel for alignment, for both of us. We will have a series of questions that we try to get through (see the general questions here), but in general we are open to discussing

The legal stuff

Dot some eyes and cross some tees.

If we both feel like it’s a good fit, the next step is the paperwork. Pretty standard stuff, but important to set expectations. Good fences make good neighbors, right? So go good block parties.

We also understand that sometimes it takes a company a little while longer than ideal to go through this process than others. It can honestly be the biggest hold-up. We try to make things as clear as possible, but sometimes signatures can be harder to get than a cheetah sipping hot chocolate.

Kickoff extravaganza

Let’s get this party started!

With signatures in place and countersigned documents shared with everyone and their grandmas (if your grandma is your lawyer), we get to work immediately (maybe one day later…).

We set up a series of kickoff meetings during the first week that help us prioritize our strategies and efforts for the most impact and the highest likelihood of long-term return. Usually, we’ll want to figure out the following:

  • Business goals

  • Agreed-upon key performance indicators

  • Identifying as many potential stakeholders as possible

  • Talk about work done up to this point

  • Discuss v1 of our engagement roadmap

Work work work (with regular check-ins)

This is where the mortadella meets the bread.

With our roadmap in place, goals identified, and the team juiced up on coffee, we get to work. Research, campaigns, content, optimization, documentation - it all happens here.

And we share how things are going. It may be that we meet each week or once a month. Maybe we do a sweet Loom video. A podcast lullaby you can fall asleep to? If it works for you, we can give it a whirl.
